Palmerville Adventures | Your Host - Greg Palmer
Greg Palmer has a profound love and respect for the outdoors. He has grown up and played along the British Columbia North Coast, and as an adult has spent much time working and living in remote rural communities and wilderness settings.
For over 25 years, Greg Palmer has been travelling to Portland Canal and the Khutzeymateen area, and through patient observation has come to know some of the bears and cubs who frequent the beaches.
For the past 15 years, Greg has been generously sharing this knowledge and love with his guests. He has drawn upon his unique personal experience to put together a very interesting tour, offering an intimate first-hand look at the bears and the backcountry.
Greg has accommodated clients ranging from backpackers and photographers to film crews including "Grizzly Face-to-Face" which was sold to David Attenborough as a BBC Wildlife Special.
As a part-time instructor at Northwest Community College, Greg shares his skills and knowledge through a grizzly and black bear educational program. His pleasant manner combines with his familiarity with the coastal environment and his knowledge and training to make him an ideal host and tour guide.
In the off-season, Greg works part-time for Canada Coast Guard. He holds certificates in Advanced Wilderness and Occupational First Aid, CPR, Industrial First Aid (2), Marine Emergency Duties, Marine Advanced First Aid, Senior Resuscitation, TDG, Navigation, and Transportation and Super-Host. He holds the Royal Canadian Lifesaving Bronze Medal and Bronze Cross, and has completed certification in Marine Firefighting, Life Raft Safety, and is a qualified RadioTelephone operator.
